peopleofwalmart.com That is a great site. I’ve been checking in on that site and, of course, failblog.org. I’ve also recently gotten into making fun of the missed connections section of craigslist. I’ve been really taking pleasure in reading about people grasping at the most insane scenarios. What are people thinking?! Vinny Cerrato got fired….oops, I mean he “resigned” today. That’s just the start, bye bye Jim Zorn. Now, if there was a Delete button for Dan Snyder, I’d say Christmas came early.

Could I ask for a better sports weekend?

The games started tonight and I enjoyed watching the Ducks chalk up another win. I’m looking forward to seeing Cincy beat up on Pitt. I hate their basketball team, but I’m really fond of the Bearcat football team. Gators will cover the -4.5 or -5 but this is going to be a great, GREAT game. I’m not sure about how anyone else feels but I WOULD watch TCU if they make it to the national title game. I will be glued to the tv for the GT/Clemson game, it’s the ACC title game and a big rivalry. My Tigers lost in a heartbreaker really early in the season and I see us playing up to our competition and WINNING. And on Sunday, I see my Washington Redskins pulling the upset of the year. Yes, maybe I’m being a bit of a homer here, but I’ve also called 3 of our losses this year, including the one against the Lions. The Terps also play on Sunday. They’ll be taking on a solid team in ‘Nova. If MD plays smart and keeps things simple I see them putting up a fight and taking down the Wildcats with ease. If they try and do too much and play out of their element ‘Nova’ll be raining 3s and slicing through whatever defense MD tries to throw at them, especially if it’s the lifeless zone I’ve seen from them at times.

I was able to take in a few movies.

I was determined to watch Ninja Assassin. I knew this 2-3 months ago, and I didn’t care what kind of poor reviews it might get from Rottentomatoes.com. It might be my most trusted site for deciding whether or not to go see a movie, but it’s never deterred me if my mind was already made up. It was getting destroyed by critics last time I looked, I believe I saw something around the 28% mark. My take, I LOVED it. Don’t judge me. =) If you go in with no expectations for a great story, dialogue, and unforgettable performances, you’re money! I turned off my brain and took in a movie for pure entertainment. The action was great and the fight sequences were pretty damn good. As for the story itself, it was okay, and the acting was subpar. Now, if I had to grade this movie by “normal” standards, I still find the 28% mark still a little harsh, so I’d say I’d have to give it a solid 7 out of 10. I’ll tell you this, I’m going to watch it again this weekend. Another movie I saw was Boondock Saints II. There’s no way to compare the first movie to this sequel. It wasn’t very good, and I’ll just leave it at that. I should have opted to wait for it to hit Redbox or Hollywood Video. If you’re bored do yourself a favor and save a couple bucks by watching the matinee if you really wanna see it. And finally, the last movie I watched was 2012. I’m not one for disaster movies or interpretations of the apocalypse, but I was killing time and had been rewarded a free ticket from being a member of the Regal Crown Club. It’s a great card if you’re a movie junkie like me. 2012 wasn’t all that bad, but GOD was it long. I went in, like I mentioned, with the notion of killing a bit of time, but I didn’t notice that the running time was 2:38. This thing was nothing but action, good thing I didn’t have to pee. It kept me entertained, but overall the movie wasn’t all that good. I don’t really know how this compares to other end of the world movies, but I’d have to guess that it’s on par with the rest, which is why I don’t bother sitting through the 2 or 3 that come out every year. I don’t think I rated Boondock Saints II, 5.5 out of 10. 2012 gets a 6 out of 10.

Thanksgiving’s come and gone

Overall, it was awesome. Like I’ve mentioned before, I love volunteering during the holidays and this past Thursday was no exception. I do have to constantly remind myself that I should stop going on Thanksgiving day and Christmas. There are SOOO many people that decide to help out on those days, it just gets too crowded and cluttered. I think the next time I do decide to go on a major holiday, I might just try a shelter or food bank, rather than a soup kitchen. Even though, it’s not one of the more gratifying days to lend a helping hand, it truly is nice to see other come to help the less fortunate. The only thing I could really hope for is that some of the ones who are coming for the first time, find the act just as addictive as I have found it to be. I’d LOVE to be back home on the east coast for the next 2 months, but I think I’d need to win Powerball for the luxury of taking that much time off. I think I will start to to make plans for making it home from the middle of Dec. to the first week of Jan. I think I MIGHT be able to pull that off.

I will be quitting the Insanity program. Considering the physical demands of my current job and my weightlifting routine, I’m losing too much weight. It would be a completely different scenario if I were able to rest a full 8 hours a night AND take in 4,000 to 4,500 calories in a day, but it’s not. In short, the program was a complete success, however, I don’t like stepping on a scale and seeing I’m only 174.5lbs. I started this program at 206 but only wanted to move down to a trimmer 197-199 mark. I am getting leaner, but I’m beginning to lose strength when it comes time during the week to lift heavy. Maybe I’ll revisit this program when/if I change jobs. I also hate the fact that I’m getting tossed around the basketball court since losing all of this weight. Something that should also be worth mentioning is my body fat measurement prior to Insanity, it was a 8.1%. I have no clue where it is now, but my guess is somewhere near 6% if not a little lower now. My stamina has improved dramatically, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it if I’m content with how I physically feel or look at the moment.

I still have a little bit of work to take care of during the next to days, but no complaints from me I don’t have to go anywhere to finish it. I just caught up with almost all of the shows that I watch religiously. If I had to rate the order of my favorite shows it’d go in this order. 1.Fringe 2.Lost 3.Community 4.Weeds 5.30 Rock 6.Parks And Recreation 7.The Office and a distant 8. Heroes.

According to that thing, I’m 49 pounds overweight. There really has to be a better way of giving someone a more accurate reading as to where they stand in term of health and their proportion based on their body’s complex. I’m 5’5”, weigh 202, and my body fat last month was measured at 6.1%. Needless to say, I check my BMI every year just for shits and giggles. Someone really needs to fix this. This is just a little update to my Insanity progression. It’s going very well. You know you’ve had one hell of a workout when you’re completely drenched when your done. Great boost of energy and nice way to start my day. I am seeing a little more definition and I’m looking leaner. It doesn’t matter what day or workout I’m on, it still kicks my ass.

Sometimes, I live in a box.

It’s funny how much being stuck in bed can still make you productive in other ways. I cleaned up my computer. (saved myself some space) I ran the usual items for making my computer efficient. The major step I took before that really did me some good. I FINALLY organized my music, movies, tv shows, and photos. I also did something I’ve been telling myself I’d do for the last 6-7 months, I backed everything up and transferred all my larger folders to my external hard drive. It seems like a simple enough task, but you have to add the 3 or 4 months I told myself I’d buy one for this exact purpose. I won’t lie, since I had neglected it for so long, the entire process took about 6 hours, and was a bitch. I do feel much better about it. I’m naturally a bit of a neat freak and health nut so it only seems logical to keep my laptop clean and healthy. Another goal I’d been putting off is switching my go to radio station from itunes and the crap that they play to slacker radio. I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner. Other than streaming local stations in the MD/DC area the only thing I had in my wheelhouse was itunes. Denver radio is ok, but I swear most of them have a playlist with maybe 12 songs. (I’m being generous with my estimation of 12) I think that it took me a while to convert because I gave Pandora a try and the stream was just too choppy. Let’s face it, music and choppy don’t go well together. I’d have to say that the overall experience I’ve had with Slacker is a solid 8 out of 10. The only reason I shorted it the 2 points from being perfect is that I’ve only used it for 2 days. I’m sure that number will change, hopefully, for the better.

I have to give my Redskins some props for a really solid win over Denver. Knowing what kind of retarded owner we have makes it difficult to enjoy a win. As a fan, I don’t want to see Dan Snyder gain any sort of confidence from a win against a team that was counterfeit from the start of the season. The last thing any Washington Redskins fan wants is Snyder starting to feel like his moves were the right ones all along. I’m really starting to hate Denver Broncos fans. They’re slowly working their way up my list. The top three most annoying fans in the world, in no particular order, PA fans *gag*, DallASS Cowgirls, and Duke Blue Devils. You know what, I take back the preface about these three in no particular order. That looks about right. Steelers fans suck, Eagles fans suck, Penguins fans suck, you all are vile human beings. Cleveland Cavaliers fans would be next on the list. Cavs fans shouldn’t be allowed to carry that kind of swag just because they lucked out and landed a star like LeBron James. Good luck with that when he bolts and you hear him singing “Tell me how my ass tastes!” while showing off his new New York Knicks or New Jersey Nets jersey. The only reason Denver Broncos fans are inching their way up is because of the blind homer comments I am blessed to hear on a daily basis. I apologize for the digression. Even with this win, I’m looking at the rest of our schedule and it’s hard to find 2 more wins. The way I see it, ending this season at .500 would be the greatest success of Dan Snyder’s tenure. It’s not going to happen. If I imagine the best case scenario, we finish 5-11. The last 2 wins coming from a split with Dallas and, hopefully, a dismantling of the Raiders, an organization that’s actually worse off than Washington.

I never thought I’d be part of another social networking site. When I got rid of my Myspace, I thought I was done. Wow!! I was soooo wrong. I couldn’t care less about gaining followers, I post things in there for the same reasons I started my blog here, for my own enjoyment. The main reason for joining was to see what all the fuss was about. Conclusion, it’s just simple and fun. The humor that gets kicked around minute after minute is so worth the hype. I think the most attractive thing about it is that even though it’s a social site, it definitely doesn’t need the maintenance that places like Facebook or MySpace require. Follow who you want, and that’s it. There are also some great causes that use the site for putting the word out on charity events and contributions to certain organizations if a user reaches the required amount of followers. There’s also something kind of cool about getting a response from athlete, musician, comedian, talk show host, or actor. I’ll admit, I thought something like this was truly worthless and a waste of time. I couldn’t be more wrong. I have an HTC Touch and the best application I’ve encountered is Twobile. Blogging on a smaller scale……. My original thought of “It’s just another one of THOSE sites.”-FAIL. Twitter-WIN!
